ABOUT

Sebastian Zuber graduated in 2015 from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. During his studies, he collaborated with choreographer Eyal Bromberg, contributing to the development of Waving to Virginia, Blood for Honey, and No More Bambies. In 2016, he joined the ensemble of more than naked by Doris Uhlich. Together with Edivaldo Ernesto – whose movement language has had a lasting influence on him – he performed in the site-specific work micro revolution by Judith Sanchez Ruiz at Acud Berlin.

In 2015, he co-founded the Yugsamas Movement Collective, which, in collaboration with Julia Schwartzbach, created let the bodies speak and presented its first independent production collage me in 2016.

Since 2015, he has regularly performed at the Zurich Opera House in productions by Christoph Marthaler (Il viaggio a Reims, Orphée et Eurydice), Sebastian Baumgarten (Hamletmaschine, Belshazzar), and Herbert Fritsch (Der Freischütz). In 2016, he joined the Johannes Wieland Company, performing in marianengraben, rite of spring, you will never be my number one fan, stück ohne titel, and the revival of you will be removed. He also collaborated with guest choreographers Helder Seabra (Röntgen) and Tom Weinberger (segments of notes).

Recent engagements include Giuditta at the Bavarian State Opera, Roots with the Susanna Leinonen Company, 42 with Panorama Dance Company, and Rauschen by Joachim Schloemer.

As a choreographer and producer, he has created works such as Professional Failure, LOWBALL, Accalia, Industrial Seagrass, and Shallow Waters. In 2019, he choreographed Aggro Alan at Staatstheater Mainz directed by Alexander Nerlich, as well as WILT and shine for circus artist Florian Zumkehr.

In 2016, he launched the annual workshop series Quercimovers in Corsica. Since 2021, he has been curating and producing guest performances including darwintodarwin by Johannes Wieland, WILT and shine by Florian Zumkehr, and 42 by Panorama Dance Company at the newly opened cultural and event venue Walzhalle Münchenstein.

In 2022, he choreographed the opera Turandot, directed by Sebastian Baumgarten, at the Zurich Opera House.

In 2025, as an Associate Artist at Tanzhaus Basel, he premiered his solo production Honeymoon, which is currently touring internationally.
